Turmeric produces an unrivaled yellow ink, luminous and seductive as liquid sunshine, but the pigment is fugitive: over time, when exposed to environmental conditions the color may change, lighten or even almost disappear. I chose six luminous, but largely forgotten, American women to overlay the pigment with lightfast pencil drawings. As the color fades the drawings become more pronounced.
I fixed the fugitive transience of these drawings in a zine.
